Stress, Self- Hypnosis, and Healing
It is commonly accepted in all quarters of the medical and holistic health professions that stress plays a significant role in the development, and chronic tendencies of disease. Statistically this is most true with respect to the degenerative diseases of middle age. Physical symptoms are all too often late arriving manifestations of a condition that has been present for a long time. It follows, that effective stress release can be integral to the healing process.
It also follows, that the stress be accurately identified in order to have an effective management program. We often believe that outward causes like excessive traffic, financial concerns, even nagging pain, are in fact the cause of our stress. Actually, the patterns by which we subconsciously choose to respond to these “stressors” are what constitute the source of the stress.
Self-hypnosis training can offer an effective approach to a first line stress control program as it can provide an ongoing experience of deep relaxation and emotional centering, which is in and of itself a healing state. Further, the continued use of pre-hypnotic suggestion accelerates the process of opening the subconscious to unlock new creative patterns of response to major stressors that directly affect the emotional components of specific disease. The self-hypnotic method is a simple extension of the client’s experience of hypnosis and is effortlessly acquired.
